Intrinsic Healing Space
Counselling & Being Well
Hello and welcome.
My approach to counselling is grounded in deep listening, genuine connection and authentic interaction. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to support, so the way we work together will be shaped by you, your experiences and what you need.
I see counselling as a shared process. Together, we can make sense of what you're experiencing, become curious about patterns that may be influencing your life, and find ways forward that feel meaningful and achievable for you.
My practice is culturally attuned and trauma-informed, with an understanding of the intergenerational experiences and influences we all carry.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, trauma, relationship and family challenges, life transitions, loss of confidence, identity and self-worth, or simply a sense that life has become harder than it used to be. I also support women exploring the impact of late-diagnosed ADHD and wanting to understand their experiences with greater clarity, compassion and less self-blame.
The name Intrinsic Healing Space comes from the belief that there is more to you than the difficulties you may be experiencing. Your worth, strengths and capacity for growth are intrinsic — they are part of who you are, even when they may feel difficult to recognise or access.
Life experiences, relationships, trauma, expectations and the pressure of simply keeping going can gradually disconnect us from that sense of ourselves. We adapt, cope, care for others and push through. Over time, those ways of coping can become so familiar that we may not recognise how much we are carrying, or understand why we feel and respond the way we do.
Intrinsic Healing Space offers somewhere to slow down and become curious about those experiences. A space to reflect, make sense of what has shaped you, and better understand what you need now.
You don't need to arrive with everything figured out. You can come as you are.
Counselling, at its heart, begins with sitting together in conversation.
The word counselling comes from an old meaning: to sit together, reflect, and consider something alongside another person. While conversation remains at the heart of counselling, therapeutic work goes beyond simply talking about what is happening.
Counselling brings together your knowledge of yourself with the knowledge, skills and perspective of a trained practitioner. Through careful listening, purposeful questions and therapeutic exploration, we can begin to recognise patterns, make connections between experiences, understand what may be influencing how you think, feel and respond, and consider what might need to change.
Sometimes our work will focus on something happening in your life right now. At other times, it may involve exploring earlier experiences, relationships or patterns that continue to influence you. We may also work with practical strategies, develop new ways of responding, or explore different perspectives that create greater choice in how you move forward.
My role isn't to tell you what to do or assume I know your life better than you do. I bring professional knowledge, therapeutic skills and a trauma-informed perspective to the work, while you bring your lived experience and knowledge of yourself. Counselling is where we bring those things together.
